1 Job again appealeth to God from the harsh censures of his friends: 6 whose unmerciful dealing may astonish, but not discourage the righteous. 11 His hope is no longer in life, but in death.

1. My 1breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, athe graves are ready for me.

2. Are there not bmockers with me? and doth not mine eye 2continue in their *provocation?

3. Lay down now, cput me in a surety with thee; who is he that will *strike hands with me?

4. For thou hast dhid their heart from understanding: therefore shalt thou not exalt them.

5. He that espeaketh flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail.

6. He hath made me also a f*byword of the people; and 3*aforetime I was as a *tabret.

7. Mine eye also is gdim by reason of sorrow, and all 4my members are as a shadow.

8. Upright men shall hbe *astonied at this, and the innocent shall istir up himself against the hypocrite.

9. The righteous also shall jhold on his way, and he that hath kclean hands 5shall be stronger and stronger.

10. But as for you all, do ye lreturn, and come now: for I cannot find mone wise man among you.

11. My days nare past, my opurposes are broken off, even 6the thoughts of my heart.

12. They pchange the night into day: the light is 7short because of darkness.

13. If I qwait, the rgrave is mine house: I have made my bed in the darkness.

14. I have 8said to corruption, sThou art my father: to the worm, Thou art my mother, and my sister.

15. And where is now my thope? as for my hope, who shall see it?

16. They shall go down to the ubars of the pit, vwhen our rest together is in the dust.
