So David and Abishai came to the people by night: and, behold, Saul lay isleeping within the trench, and his spear stuck in the ground at his bolster: but Abner and the people lay round about him.

ESV: So David and Abishai went to the army by night. And there lay Saul sleeping within the encampment, with his spear stuck in the ground at his head, and Abner and the army lay around him.
